Configuring Portions & Ingredients
Portions
Portions are used on the POS to control the sale of products that have different sizes or alternate ways of being sold, for example Small, Medium, Stuffed Crust, Take Away etc.
When Kitchen iQ receives orders that have products sold by portion, the operator might need to be aware that the item should be prepared differently.

Ingredients
In a busy service environment it can be useful to view a list of common product items and the current quantity of those items, helping operators to quickly see how many of an item to prepare without having to manually count up over multiple tickets.
Products Entity codes that are displayed in Aztec Product Modelling are used to create a selection of ingredients (product items) that are displayed on the screen.
Option | Description/Usage |
Ingredient Name | The name given to the ingredient in Kitchen iQ (multiple Aztec Entity codes (product IDs) can be mapped to a single ingredient in Kitchen iQ) |
Product IDs |
Entry box to add Entity Codes from Aztec Product Modelling to map the ingredient to the Aztec ID |
Portions |
The standard option is set as "default" - this is for any product / portion combination matching the ID entered Individual portions can be added allowing a different count of the ingredient to be calculated, for example "Large" = count of 2 |
Count | Entry box to configure the count value of the ingredient to be displayed on the required channel |
Child lines |
Enables linking one ingredient to multiple parent/child products, portion sizes and quantities For example: We can add a 'Fries' Ingredient and the product ID for 'Burger and Fries' with a Default portion count of '1'. Then, add a child line to 'Fries' and add the product ID for a 'Side of Fries' and set the Default portion to 2 We could then add a 'Burgers' ingredient and map the same product ID for 'Burgers and Fries' to that with a Default portion count of 2 With this set up, ringing up a 'Burgers and Fries' would add 1 to the'Fries' count and 2 to the'Burgers' count |
To add new Ingredients:
-
Select the Portions and Ingredients tab
-
Click Add against ingredients
-
Enter the ingredient Name
-
Enter the Product ID (from Aztec Product Modelling / Menu Manager) for the product you wish to map to the ingredient

Don't forget you can map any product for example you might have 8oz Sirloin steak that comes with Fries and Onion Rings so the ID for the steak can be added within the ingredient mapping as well as products that might be a side order like fries
Click the "Click to Collapse" option to hide the Product IDs if there are many within mapping
Ingredients to be displayed on screen are controlled within the Channel configuration - a channel can be configured to show the required ingredients to complete the setup
